A day with…. Lisa Gelig, lifeguard at the Wittisheim lake: “The best job for a student!”

Who's in yellow and waiting? It's not Jonathan, but Lisa Gelig, a lifeguard at the Wittisheim lake. Dressed in a fluorescent yellow top and bright red shorts, the 21-year-old began her fourth summer as a lifeguard at the Koba on June 14. "Last year, we wore a red top and white bottoms, but that's changed this year. It's probably more visible," Lisa says.
Sitting on a plastic chair in front of the first aid station where her equipment is stored, Lisa scans the lake, which, on this Friday, July 11, appears quite deserted despite the generous sunshine, an outside temperature of 26°C and water at 25°C. "It went up to 29°C during the heatwave," Lisa explains.
If the lake opens at 11 a.m., you'll have to wait until 11:30 a.m. to see two women, then a mother and her two children, settling down on the beach. "Usually, when I arrive in the morning and there's no one around, I swim a little or run around the lake to keep up the pace." Lisa...
